Bio

The HeadHunterz is an elite performance collective formed by like-minded artists committed to mastery in their respective disciplines. Founded by Samuel ‘Theory’ Foster and Brandon ‘Amayzn’ Nelson, the group’s name pays homage to blues legends Muddy Waters and Little Walter. Joined by Sheri ‘Purpose’ Hall and John ‘Hypocrace’ Lewis, the collective brings more than 70 years of combined performance experience across competitive slam, curated showcases, comedy stages, literary festivals, and national circuits.

Connection to the theme Home

The HeadHunterz will embody the theme of Home through sensory storytelling, musical structure, and lived Kansas City experience.

Each segment of the show will center on a sense that evokes home. Sight becomes neighborhood landmarks and red and gold Sundays with the Kansas City Chiefs. Sound becomes gospel choirs, boom bap, jazz riffs from 18th & Vine Historic District, and the cadence of front porch conversations. Smell becomes barbecue smoke and summer pavement. Taste becomes family cookouts. Touch becomes the warmth of community embrace and the tension of growing up.

The performance moves like a mixtape from the 1980s to the 2020s. Home is presented as both a sanctuary and a catalyst. Some poems reflect comfort and belonging. Others explore tension, loss, or growth. This duality reflects the theme’s acknowledgment that home can be both a refuge and a formative pressure.

As Kansas City natives, The HeadHunterz ground the performance in authentic lived experience. Their interdisciplinary approach blends high-impact delivery with tenderness, showing how community shapes voice, resilience, and return. Through rhythm, nostalgia, and spirit, the show becomes not just about home, but a return to it.
