Connection to the theme Home
My understanding of home comes from leaving it and choosing to return. At 20, I left Kansas City and moved to Atlanta in search of growth, opportunity, and perspective. Those five years shaped me as both an artist and a person. I learned how creative communities function, how culture is built intentionally, and how artists can make a real impact when they are supported by their city. Coming back home at 26 reframed everything. Home stopped being just where I was from and became something I felt responsible for. It became a place I wanted to invest in, contribute to, and help strengthen using everything I had learned elsewhere.
This performance reflects that journey. It moves through restlessness, curiosity, grounding, and purpose. Some moments feel reflective and internal, while others are communal and outward facing, mirroring the process of leaving to find yourself and returning to help build something bigger than you.
