SOCIAL MEDIA & PHOTO-DOCUMENTATION
INTERN POSITION:

The Art in the Loop Foundation (AILF) is seeking is seeking a creative and committed intern to assist with communications and summer arts program in coordination with our partner organizations the Downtown Council (DTC) and the Downtown Community Improvement District (DCID).

A stipend will be provided at the completion of the internship. We will work to create a valuable experience for the intern that includes mentorship and the development of skills and knowledge that will benefit you in the future.

2016 Art in the Loop Project: Connect

ART
in the Loop : Oppenstein Park + Core Zone, 12th & Walnut
on the Line : KC Streetcar Line
in the Park : Ilus Davis Park, 11th & Oak

The 2016 Art in the Loop Project: Connect will infuse the center of Downtown Kansas City with innovative and engaging temporary art that will refresh, intrigue and surprise our audience of Downtown employees, residents, and visitors. Equally important, the project will also create an opportunity for local emerging and established artists to extend their practice into the Downtown environment with curatorial, professional and logistical support.

2016 Art in the Loop Project: Connect is a curated outdoor exhibition of temporary artworks installed in and around Oppenstein Park at 12th and Walnut Streets. Art in the Loop is also partnering with the KC Streetcar Authority to include art installations at streetcar stops and on-board vehicles. The project estimates 10-15 art installations and 16+ performances, June – September, 2016.

Art in the Loop is also partnering with the City of Kansas City, Missouri to manage the Ilus Davis Art in the Park project which will include 4 temporary art installations and 4 community performances throughout the summer.

Intern Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities are to engage with the Downtown Kansas City community, including residents, employees and visitors and the Art in the Loop projects and artists. You will work with the artists and staff to develop content for www.artintheloop.com and related social media. You will have the opportunity to gain resume-worthy experience in areas such as social media planning and creative writing. You will also photo-document the art installations and performances and upload key images to the www.artintheloop.com. The intern needs to be able to resize/post/upload documentation to the DTC/DCID/AILF photo database, Facebook and Twitter accounts.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Strong written/verbal skills;
  • Be detail-oriented;
  • Have the ability to take on multiple projects and see them through to completion;
  • Experience with Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and event support is a must;
  • Experience with LinkedIn and WordPress is a PLUS;
  • Experience photo-documenting art performances and installations
  • Familiarity with Adobe Products
  • Photo editing skills

The intern will need access to:

  • A computer, as well as necessary photo editing software
  • A DSLR camera

This intern must be able to work collaboratively and efficiently with others and is expected to support events. This intern should have strong communication skills. The intern meets weekly to discuss assignments and progress with staff.

WHEN:
June 1 – September 30, 20+ hours per week.
