Bio: EleveN2wenty2 is a professionally trained vocal trio that blends technical proficiency with artistic versatility across multiple genres. Each member holds classical vocal training and/or degrees in vocal music, delivering exceptional harmonies, sophisticated arrangements, and memorable performances since 2018. EleveN2wenty2 is currently working on recording and releasing their debut multi-genre album at the end of this year. This album illustrates how love comes in many forms including self love.

In connection to the theme: Our performance relates specifically to the part of the theme that states, “how we relate to one another.” Even within our own group, we come from diverse upbringings, we have different points of views as it pertains to religion, orientations, etc. Because we have been friends and singing together since we were children, it’s easy to accept these differences. However, we make the conscious decision to love one another through these differences and celebrate it through song. We are intentional about writing music that anyone can relate to no matter their gender, age, religious preference, orientation, etc. Our next step in our journey is to release music that everyone can enjoy, sing along and dance to, but also pave the way for fellow indie artists like ourselves, who have had to face adversity while going for their dreams. It is not easy, or cheap, to be an artist and our goal is to create resources and opportunities for indie artists to also do what they love without stress but with security and guidance.

Artist Interview

By: Lilly Gerend

EleveN2wenty2 is a professionally trained vocal trio including members Kai Manning, JaNay Adgers, and Darius Sheppard. They are known for their tight harmonies and stage presence, making their performance feel like a big family reunion. “Our goal is that everyone feels free and safe to dance and engage with us in the performance,” they say.

As artists, it has become our mission to rally up a community of creatives who not only feel supported in this journey, but who also support others by showing up for one another and sharing information and resources to elevate our careers.  It is our goal that our performance and presence reflect the community that we are building.” EleveN2wenty2 carefully crafts each set list to best align to each demographic of performance, creating a new and dynamic performance each time. For Art in the Loop specifically, they are leaning into a more “feel good” vibe, to allow everyone to feel included in the journey of the performance.

Being a part of Art in the Loop this year, and joining our family has challenged this group of artists to remind themselves of the messages they want to convey and how they can be intentional as well as purposeful, and how there is a community around you to lean on and learn from in regards to your art and inspiration.

Our art has shown us our super powers. We have realized that no matter where we are in this journey, we have the power to take an idea and bring it into fruition.” Join us on September 11th, at 5:30 P.M. in Oppenstein Brothers Memorial Park for EleveN2wenty2’s performance and The Downtown Council’s Summer series, Summer in the City.
